SC 1807 Safety in the Scientific Laboratory

introduces students to safety practices required for working in science laboratories where hazards are present. Students complete an online module in Laboratory Safety. Normally, it will be taken before the start of the semester in which students take their first science laboratory course with this prerequisite, and it must be successfully completed no later than the first Friday of the semester. Check department lists of courses to see where this is a prerequisite.

SC 1808 WHMIS

introduces students to Newfoundland and Labrador’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). Students will complete an online module in WHMIS. Normally, it will be taken before the start of the semester in which students take their first science laboratory course with this prerequisite, and it must be successfully completed no later than the first Friday of the semester. Check department lists of courses to see where this is a prerequisite.

CH = Credit hours: unless otherwise noted, a course normally has a credit value of 3 credit hours.
