Interim Accreditation Review

2026 Interim Accreditation Review

This year, 2026, marks four years since our last formal Accreditation Site Visit survey. The process of undergraduate accreditation follows an 8-year cycle. Canadian MD programs typically undergo an Interim Accreditation Review (IAR) at approximately the halfway point between full accreditation surveys. The IAR is an important component within the accreditation process that will allow us to:

  • detect emerging problems with standards
  • identify critical issues requiring more immediate action
  • increase local accreditation expertise
  • develop a culture of continuous quality improvement

The Interim Review Team will consist of our Faculty Undergraduate Accreditation Lead (FUAL), UGME Curriculum and Accreditation Advisor, the External Accreditation Interim Review Auditor, as well as faculty and student representatives. This important continuous improvement event will take place in person over two days in the first week of June 2026 (Thursday, June 4 and Friday, June 5).
