Welcome
Welcome to the Admissions section of the Memorial University Faculty of Medicine’s undergraduate medical education program! We are delighted that you are considering Memorial as you prepare your medical school application.
Our program is delivered at both the St John’s Campus and the PEI Regional Campus, which opened in August 2025 in support of our social accountability mandate. Students at both campuses benefit from Memorial’s comprehensive and award-winning curriculum, with strong emphasis on community and rural learning and early patient interaction.
Admissions at Memorial is a holistic process that considers academics, including grade point averages and MCAT scores, within the context of your entire application. This process unfolds over the course of a year, with applications due in late summer for admission in the following academic year. It is highly work intensive, and we are always grateful for the contributions from the communities we serve.
Given the unique geography of the provinces that we serve, we have a focus on rural applicants and rural medical training. We also support socioeconomically disadvantaged applicants through initiatives such as the Vision Program to try and reduce some of the financial barriers to applying to medical school. The Faculty of Medicine is also committed to Truth and Reconciliation, with reserved seats for Indigenous students at both the St John’s campus and the PEI Regional campus.
We encourage you to review the application requirements on our website and if you have any specific questions, please reach out to us at munmed@mun.ca.
Medicine is an exciting field that requires significant effort. It is not a journey to embark upon lightly! As you compile your application, I hope you take the time to reflect on what you have accomplished, your current goals, and how you hope to serve your own communities. We thank you for considering Memorial University and we look forward to reviewing your application!
Kind regards,
