Minimum Requirements

There is currently no minimum GPA or academic average required to apply; however, the Doctor of Medicine Program is a rigorous degree, and applicants must demonstrate strong academic potential to be successful in such a program.  For historical academic statistics on previously accepted classes, please see Admissions Statistics. 

To be eligible to apply to Memorial’s Medical School, the admission requirements are:

  1. a bachelor's degree at an accredited university or university college before admission. Any bachelor's degree is acceptable; there is no preferential degree.
  2. two letters of reference (one must be academic); reference guidelines are available at Reference Criteria.
  3. the MCAT exam written, within 5 years of the application deadline. Please refer to Important Dates.
  4. the Casper exam will be required annually by all applicants. Previous scores obtained are not accepted. 
  5. applicants must be Canadian citizens or have Permanent Resident status in Canada at the time of application.
