What brought me to MUN? What keeps me at MUN?

I was attracted to Memorial University of Newfoundland after completing my training at the Ottawa Heart Institute for the opportunity to work with Newfoundland patients and also for the exciting possibilities of genetic research in cardiomyopathies. Since returning to Newfoundland in 1999 I continue to be enthralled with the treatment of heart disease in the many patients here in our home province. The original promise of genetics research has grown into a partnership with patients, physicians and our basic scientists team that has permitted a voyage of discovery and treatment that has directly impacted lives of both our patients here in Newfoundland and beyond our provincial borders. I believe the patient/physician relationship is unique in our population. It is fulfilling to be able to practice clinically in Newfoundland and Labrador and extrapolate the results of our ongoing research to the improvement of patient care.
