What brought me to MUN? What Keeps Me At MUN?
St. John’s has always been my home. I was pleased to return from fellowship in Atlanta with additional training as a foundation for providing more patient care. In terms of quality of life, nothing compares to being close to family and having a career and professional interactions you thoroughly enjoy.

Education:

MD, Memorial University of Newfoundland

Training:

Neurology, Memorial University of Newfoundland
Neuro-ophthalmology, Emory University

Research/Teaching Summary:

My research focus during fellowship was on idiopathic intracranial hypertension, teaching ophthalmoscopy to medical students and neuro-ophthalmology in pregnancy. Since returning to Memorial University of Newfoundland, I have become involved in multicenter clinical trials in multiple sclerosis and stroke.

During fellowship I helped coordinate and facilitate sessions to teach ophthalmoscopy to medical students and was a facilitator for a refresher on the eye examination for faculty. Currently I continue to teach predominantly through neurology clinical skills sessions. I also participate in lectures, tutorials and Objective Structured Clinical Exams in the undergraduate and postgraduate medical curriculum.

I have been an invited speaker for the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Optometrists, the Newfoundland Society of Electroneurophysiology Technologists and the Cardiovascular Awareness and Research Day organized by the School of Nursing.

Admitted to the Order of St. John, 2012
Dean’s Convocation Award for Medicine, 2005
