Step (2) is Job Search Initiation, which includes a list of the Search Committee members, and a list of locations/publications where the job advertisement is to be posted along with the start and dates of posting.

Step (3) Preparing the Recommendation for Academic Appointment which requires the following documents (a) Recommendation memo from the associate dean with rank, salary, and FOAPAL (b) Current CV with home address contact information (c) Three reference letters (d) Signed Letter of Offer, and (e) Search Committee Report.

To finalize the approval of the appointment, new faculty must provide a copy of their degree, their certificate for completion of the PHIA module, and a signed MUN Oath/Affirmation of Confidentiality.

GFT Clinical Faculty

Geographic Full Time (GFT) faculty are clinical faculty who practice within the Eastern Health zones, and, therefore, are not members of MUNFA.

For a new appointment, a Request to Recruit for Academic Appointment package is prepared with the following documents (a) Position Rationale in a memo from the chair that includes confirming collegial consultation has taken place (b) Annual Hiring Plan (c) Resignation or Retirement letter from incumbent (d) Draft Job Advertisement that uses the MUN template (e) Academic Unit Staffing Plan, and (f) Search Committee Report (if applicable).

For the Recommendation for Academic Appointment step, the chair will prepare a Letter of Offer (template available) and a Terms and Conditions of Appointment document (template available) for the successful candidate to sign and return.  The candidate must declare if they will be members of Medical Practice Associates (MPA) and provide a letter of support from MPA, or a Professional Medical Corporation (PMC) where a contract with the Faculty of Medicine would be signed.

The documents required for a new GFT Appointment are noted in the checklist

The documents required for a re-appointment of a current GFT Appointment are noted in the checklist:

To finalize the approval of the new appointment or re-appointment, faculty must provide a copy of their degree, certificate for completion of the PHIA module, the Oath/Affirmation of Confidentiality, and either a support letter from MPA, or a PMC contract.

Appointments are provisional for three years.  Prior to the completion of the three-year period, the chair would begin the process for a re-appointment (as included on the above checklist).
