- Describe current models of process improvement in healthcare settings.
- Describe best practice research and evaluation methods to assess healthcare quality and patient safety.
- Apply a structured approach to systematically analyze patient safety incidents to improve patient care.

Objectives
- Recognize the elements of high-quality documentation and how this promotes safe patient care
- Describe the components of an effective informed consent discussion
- Identify the key steps in disclosing a patient safety incident
- Commit to at least one strategy to promote psychological safety and encourage speaking up within your team
The standardized curriculum is based on CMPA medico-legal risk data and the CanMEDS 2015 and CanMEDS-FM competencies.
Format:
- Residents will need to complete about 1 hour of pre-work.
- The live workshop will be hosted via Zoom
- Subject matter is targeted to PGY1 Family Medicine and PGY2 Royal College residents

- To discuss the concept of global health as addressing inequities in underserved populations regardless of geographic location
- To examine the role of globalization on health (including global burden of disease) and healthcare
- To highlight the interrelationship between health, human rights, and social and gender inequities
- Social Accountability and Health Equities:
- To review the social, political, environmental, and economic determinants of health with a view of increasing sociocultural and political awareness
- To discuss the issues of access, equity, inclusion and social justice related to patient care
