The search committee for the role of dean of the Faculty of Medicine has completed its work and recommended Dr. Stuart Carney for the position.
The Board of Regents approved the appointment at its meeting on July 8. Dr. Carney will begin a five-year term effective Jan. 1, 2026.
Receiving an inaugural Lester and Viola Pottle Foundation Scholarship gave second-year medical student Terri Savory more than just a financial award.
It gave her something truly priceless.
At the age of 17, Andrew Gosse noticed a small silvery scab on his left elbow.
“I went to my family doctor, and he said it was psoriasis,” said Mr. Gosse. “I didn’t know what that was. I just wanted a cream to make it go away, but he said no, it’s chronic. I didn’t understand that meant I would have it forever.”
