I am a Nurse Educator committed to creating engaging, student‑centered learning experiences. I teach nursing research with a strong focus on Indigenous ways of knowing, promoting culturally grounded approaches to inquiry and practice. My research explores nurses’ experiences with end‑of‑life care during pandemic restrictions and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in nursing education. As an educator, I strive to empower students to advocate for culturally safe care and to develop confidence in their own professional voice.

My Nursing experiences and interests have focused on gerontological, inpatient surgical, and community health nursing. I have a deep interest in pharmacology, particularly in the treatment of autoimmune and rare diseases. I am also interested in research on teaching and learning and in implementing diverse strategies to assist students.

My research has focused on learning in nursing education, with particular emphasis on high-fidelity simulation. My work has also explored nursing workforce issues, including casualization of the nursing workforce and the integration of nurse collegians to strengthen frontline staffing and support healthcare delivery.  I am currently pursuing research that expands knowledge on nursing and the health and wellbeing of people in Newfoundland and Labrador.

My research interests focus on enhancing the nursing student experience; I have published work related to student experiences of incivility in the clinical practice environment and the impacts of engaging in paid work while completing nursing studies. I have also done research which explores the experience of persons with autism and their families as well as the implementation of telehealth in applied behavioural analysis (ABA) program delivery. My teaching interests primarily include maternal/newborn nursing and pathophysiology.

My research has focused on mental health nursing, nursing education, and the nursing student experience, specifically on the use of standardized patients to augment clinical learning in mental health, and the experiences of nursing students who work while completing their undergraduate education.  I am currently involved in phase two of the nursing students who work study which has been expanded to include the perspectives of BScN and PN students across the province.
