Preparing for fall 2025 registration
Undergraduate course registration for the upcoming fall 2025 semester begins July 15. Remember to register as close to your registration time as possible.
Make sure you’re prepared for registration and remember to:
- Check your student financial record in Memorial Self Service. Any outstanding fees will place a hold on your registration.
- Make sure you have completed INTG 1000 and SVM 0204 (for first semester students).
- Check your registration time in Memorial Self Service. Note: you may not be able to register on time if you have a hold. If you don’t have a registration time, you can contact registrar@mun.ca.
- Regularly check your @mun.ca email address for any important information (for example, faculty emails about registration).
- Double check the course offerings before you register to ensure there have been no changes.
- Seek academic advice if you are unsure what courses you should register for.
Memorial University expands support for Canadian Armed Forces members
Memorial University is expanding its support for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members to have their military service experience and education recognized as course credit equivalents.
The intention is to help those who serve or have served complete their degree, certificate or diploma programs faster and with less expense.
Known as prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR), it is a process Memorial uses in certain scenarios to evaluate the knowledge and skills a person has acquired outside of its classrooms and laboratories. More information on how this program works can be found on the CAF-PLAR website.

Information about PAS/FAL option
Choosing a pass/fail (PAS/FAL) grade can have implications if you’re competing for or maintaining a scholarship, have plans to apply for admission to graduate, professional or other competitive programs that rely on GPA or numeric scores, or if you are required to maintain a particular overall average to graduate in a major, minor or honours program. You should discuss this option with your instructor, preferably before the end of your last class, to see if it is possible for your course. It is the instructor’s discretion whether they wish to permit PAS/FAL grading in their course.
If you decide to choose the PAS/FAL option, it may not be possible to switch to a numeric grade at a later time as there is no obligation for your instructor to keep a record of that numeric grade. Read more about the PAS/FAL option in the student FAQ. Students should contact their department or faculty undergraduate advisor or the Academic Advising Centre with additional questions. Information about grades, averages, and GPA is available online.

'In Absentia' Convocation
Effective December 2019, students who have completed their program requirements by the end of that fall semester will have the opportunity to graduate in February 2020. There will be no formal ceremony in February. Rather, students will graduate during that month’s University Senate meeting.
All applicants will be assigned to the upcoming Spring 2020 convocation ceremonies but have the option to postpone attendance until Fall 2020 convocation ceremonies. Registration to attend convocation opens in late-February/early-March.

Corner Brook Convocation - Fall 2019
Effective Fall 2019, there will no longer be an annual fall convocation in Corner Brook.
- Students will automatically be assigned to the fall convocation in St. John’s; however, students wishing to attend the annual spring convocation in May 2020 instead, must email convocation@mun.ca by Oct. 1, 2019.
- While all degrees and graduation parchments will be issued in the fall, students can opt to participate ceremonially in Corner Brook in May 2020.
- All eligible candidates will be awarded their degree and issued their graduation parchment either during the Fall 2019 convocation ceremonies in St. John’s or by mail at the permanent address as recorded in Memorial Self-Service, about one week after fall convocation.
