The Registrar’s Office supports the work of convocation by overseeing all academic pieces including:
- Reviewing and approving all undergraduate applications to graduate. Graduation applications for graduate students are verified by the School of Graduate Studies.
- Supporting the activities of the University Marshal.
- Co-ordinating communications and activities that support the honorary degree recipients.
Faculty members are permitted and encouraged to participate in convocation.
The awarding of the distinction of Professor Emerita/us is an important feature of Memorial’s Convocation. The selection process is confidential and is overseen by the Senate Committee on Honorary Degrees and Ceremonial. This process is referenced in the Senate Handbook of By-laws and Procedures.
