Final exams

Exam schedules

Final exams schedules for the current semester/session are normally posted two to three weeks after the end of the registration period.

Writing your exam

Review the information about writing your exams and ensure that you have confirmed the time and location of your exams.

Accommodations

If you are a student with disability and you know you will require formal accommodations for your final exams, you should contact Accessibility Service (Blundon Centre) on the St. John's campus at least six weeks before the start of the semester in which you will require testing accommodations.  Final exams, written with Accessibility Services are required to be booked no less than 30 days prior to the final exam period.  Students studying at the Grenfell Campus and requiring formal accommodations for exams should contact or the ACES in the Learning Centre as soon as possible.

Invigilation guidelines for remote learning

It is recommended to review the Examinations and Invigilation Guidelines for the Remote Learning Environment approved by Senate in 2020.

Conflicts, deferrals and exemptions

If you have conflicts in your exam schedule or have three exams within a 24 hour period, you may choose to write an exam in quarantine. If you are prevented from writing a final exam due to illness, bereavement, or another acceptable cause, you may apply for a deferral or exemption. You should review the information on deferred exams in the university Calendar and speak with the academic unit of the specific course/examination.

Closure/cancellation

In the event of a cancellation during exams, Memorial will communicate at that time the impact the closure/cancellation will have on your exam schedule. When a change or modification needs to be made to the exam schedule due to a cancellation, Memorial demonstrates flexibility and considers personal circumstances where possible. You are encouraged to download the MUN Safe app to receive notifications of critical incidents affecting any of the Memorial campuses.

Final examination re-reads

As a student, you have the option of having your final examination re-read. With the consent of the academic unit, requests for rereads can include clinicals, exams, internships, work terms or final reports, as appropriate.
