Research Interests

My scientific background is in plant physiology and molecular biology. I specialize in environmental stress in plants and photosynthetic microorganisms, and mainly work with boreal ecosystems. Within our Environmental Science program, I teach courses in general, plant, and environmental biology, and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research projects in plant and microbial physiological ecology. I am currently also the curator of Grenfell Campus herbarium (SWGC), a research collection of over 10,000 vascular plants, lichens and fungi from the island of Newfoundland.
