Advice for Undergraduate Students

New Memorial University students

You may connect with the Academic Advising Centre in person, by phone or email during the months leading up to your first semester at Memorial and at any point after your courses begin. Academic advisors are a resource for you throughout your studies at Memorial, and are available to answer questions about course selection, program regulations, registration processes, university procedures and other academic matters.

First Year Information (FYI) is a resource for new students coming to Memorial. FYI includes information on available courses, programs and sample programs for the first two semesters for all of our degree programs. It also contains information about various placement tests you may be required to write before starting your studies. You are encouraged to review this information and to use it throughout your first year.

Declared students

If you have already declared a major or been admitted to a program, your department or faculty will have resources and advisors available to guide you along your academic path.

Follow the links below to find contact information for academic advice.

Undeclared students

Academic advisors can give academic advice to any student beyond first year and not yet declared in a program. Advisors are available to answer questions about course selection, program regulations, registration processes, university procedures and other academic matters. Advisors can provide information about the various academic programs, give advice about exploring areas of interest, and help you make decisions about your options.

If you have any questions before declaring or applying to your intended program about the program itself or course selection, you can make an appointment with an academic advisor or drop by the Academic Advising Centre, SN 4053.
