Student Community Leadership Awards

With a growing international student population at Grenfell Campus, different challenges are experienced by our students in order to study in Canada. Some of these include an expensive and extensive immigration process, feeling isolated, and having difficulties adjusting to a new environment, and financial difficulties. Although the majority of our international students are authorized to work, hours are limited and working regulations must be followed.

For these reasons, the International Office, along with Student Services, and the Internationalization Group has created two Student Community Leadership Awards that will be given in winter 2026 to two students who have contributed to a sense of community at Grenfell Campus and who have demonstrated innovation and leadership in their approach to community-building, particularly through volunteer initiatives. This year's awards will be valued at $1000 for a study-permit holding student (to reflect their higher tuition) and a $500 award for a student who is Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident who has demonstrated a strong sense of allyship with our international student population. Furthermore, the Community Member Award will be given to a member of the Corner Brook community who works and supports the welfare of our international students. The awards will be given during the Student Achievement awards. The deadline to send in nominations is February 28 2026.
