Peter Ride comes to Memorial having formerly been Principal Research Fellow at the University of Westminster, UK, (2001-2021), where he was the Program Director for the MA in Museums, Galleries and Contemporary Culture and for the MA in Visual Culture. He was also a member of University of Westminster’s Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM). His additional academic experience includes Adjunct Faculty, MA Museum Studies, Johns Hopkins University (2011-2019).

Born and educated in Australia, Ride has worked in a wide range of arts organisations in the UK including The Photographers’ Gallery, London; Cambridge Darkroom Gallery; The Arts Technology Centre (Artec), London; and DA2 Digital Arts Development Agency, Bristol.

He is the co-author, with Professor Andrew Dewdney, of ‘The New Media Handbook’, (Routledge: 2006) and the ‘Digital Media Handbook (Routledge: 2013) and he has published widely on new media projects in museums and galleries and on participation in the arts, including Ride, P. ‘Participation in the Art Museum: Defining New Models for Public Engagement at Tate Exchange’, Tate Papers, no.34, 2020. 

His Doctorate studies at the University of Westminster, were in Visual Culture with a PhD titled, Putting It Together- examining new media arts and creative practice (2013)
