50th Anniversary Art Exhibition

Celebrating Creative Legacies: 50 Alumni, 50 Stories 

In honour of Grenfell Campus’ 50th Anniversary, we are thrilled to invite Visual Arts alumni from across the decades to submit work for a special art exhibition celebrating the rich creative legacy of Grenfell Campus’ Fine Arts program. 

This landmark exhibition will showcase 50 alumni, with works displayed throughout campus and affiliated venues during the anniversary year. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with your alma mater, share your artistic journey, and inspire current students, faculty, and fellow alumni.

Important Dates

Submission Deadline: September 30, 2025

Artist Notification: December 1, 2025

Exhibition Opening: March 2026 

Eligibility

Open to alumni of the Visual Arts program, Grenfell Campus, Memorial University (formerly Sir Wilfred Grenfell College). 

All visual art disciplines welcome: painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, performance/video (site-appropriate), and more. 

Submission Requirements

Please submit the following via the online submission form by September 30, 2025:

  • High-Resolution Image(s) of the proposed artwork (up to 3 pieces per artist; max 5MB each) [note: only one piece will be selected]
  • (Title, Medium, Dimensions, Year Created)
  • Looking Back, Launching Forward – a reflective statement about time since Grenfell and where your creative education has taken you (max 300 words)
  • Short Bio (max 150 words)

  • Installation/Technical Requirements  

Please note: All physical works must be exhibition-ready and suitable for public display in an academic environment. 

Selection Process

Submissions will be reviewed by a curatorial committee and will consider artistic merit, diversity of medium, representation of alumni decades, feasibility of secure installation, and alignment with the exhibition’s celebration of creative legacy. Artworks created within the past ten years will be prioritized in the selection process, with the intent to highlight ongoing artistic practices after completion of studies at Grenfell Campus. 

What Selected Artists Receive

  • Inclusion in the milestone anniversary exhibition on campus
  • Feature in a commemorative digital catalogue and virtual gallery
  • Invitation to the official opening reception and alumni artist networking event
  • Exhibition documentation
  • $181 artist fee (Ref: CARFAC 2025, A.1.6 Exhibitions in Other Public Places)
