Business co-operative education
For students
Our B.Comm.(Co-op.) students don’t just study business – they experience it!
All students in this program complete three paid work terms in private, public or non-profit sectors, making them valuable and in-demand employees.
You’ll gain:
- An education enriched by skills and knowledge learned in the classroom;
- Relevant employment skills and a realistic understanding of contemporary work forces;
- Opportunities to try different areas of business and employment settings to better shape career aspirations;
- Confidence and maturity as productive members of professional teams and work environments;
- Verifiable experience for dynamic resumes, plus enhanced job search skills and a network of contacts; and
- Financial support to help with educational costs.
For employers
Our students have a diverse array of skills and abilities. Whether you need to develop a marketing strategy, conduct research, assess organizational challenges, manage finances, support human resources or develop new information systems, our students can play a key role in your organization.
Hiring a co-op student offers:
- A window on future recruitment. Many employers hire former co-op students, which translates into lower recruitment and training costs, and higher employee retention.
- A year-round supply of motivated students who bring fresh perspectives, ideas and enthusiasm to your organization.
- Help with staffing needs. Our students can focus on special projects, allowing permanent staff to focus on longer-term goals. They also offer relief during busy periods and vacations.
- A source of up-to-date knowledge, techniques and skills recently learned in the classroom.
