Year One Commerce

All undergraduate business students are encouraged to complete a common first year called Year One Commerce. These 10 courses are required for any student planning to apply to the B.Comm.(Co-op) and will set students up for success in their further studies in Business.

Year One Commerce is 30 credit hours (10 courses) comprised of the following courses in this suggested order:

3 credit hours selected from one of Business 2111, 2205, or 2600 (for students applying for B.Comm.(Co-op) for Fall 2028).

Non-business elective (for students applying for B.Comm.(Co-op) for Fall 2027)

  1. Selection of a mathematics course depends on your background and ability. Students should refer to the math course criteria chart 
    prior to selecting a first-semester course. 
  2. These courses may be taken in any order in either semester.
  3. Business 1000 may be taken in either semester.

Students applying to the B.Comm.(Co-op) must complete all Year One Commerce courses with an overall average of at least 65 per cent, and an average of at least 60 per cent over the last 30 credit hours completed.

In addition to this, B.Comm.(Co-op.). applicants must demonstrate that they can successfully complete 15 credit hours in one semester with an acceptable performance.
