CPA Data Analytics Hackathon 2024 - Combatting the Housing Crisis
The 2024 CPA Data Analytics Hackathon - Combatting the Housing Crisis will be held from October 21-27, 2024, at the Memorial University Faculty of Business Administration.
This exciting case competition will help students develop and practice valuable career skills such as data manipulation and presentation and working effectively in teams.
You’ll also learn about the emerging field of data analytics and the many career opportunities it presents, all while focusing on the critical, real-world societal challenge of housing.
Who can participate?
This competition is open to any Memorial University undergraduate or graduate student. You must register as a team. Teams must be composed of four students total and include a minimum of two declared Business Administration students.

Optional Information Sessions – To help participants better understand key data analytic skills and the case competition subject:
- Monday, October 21 (5 – 7 p.m.) - Combatting the Housing Crisis
- Tuesday, October 22 (5 – 7 p.m.) - Understanding Data
- Wednesday, October 23 (5 – 7 p.m.) - Effective Case Presentation
- Thursday, October 24 (5 – 7 p.m.) - Presenting Data
Competition Kickoff: Friday, October 25, 7 – 9 p.m.
Competition: Saturday, October 26 (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) & Sunday, October 27 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
The competition and all sessions will be held at the Faculty of Business Administration building, Memorial University.
Meals and snacks will be provided on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, courtesy of Chartered Professional Accountants Newfoundland and Labrador (CPA-NL).
How to register
Deadline to register: Friday, October 11
Teams will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Competition space is limited. You are strongly encouraged to register early.
