Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Open House on March 9
The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science will be hosting an open house for the general public on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and you don't want to miss it! Admission is free for all ages and there's free parking, too, in Lot 16A.
When you arrive in the main entrance of the S.J. Carew Building on Memorial's St. John's campus, you will be greeted with informative booths on several topics, including:
Tetra Society of Canada
Engineers without Borders
Nao, our humanoid robot!
Engineering Co-Op Education
Engineering Student Society B
Browse the booths above while waiting to go on your guided tours! Guided tours of many of our working laboratories will be leaving from the main entrance of the S.J. Carew Building every 15 minutes. Groups of eight to 10 people will be guided through the laboratories to give you insight into what goes on in a real working laboratory and some of the things produced on site. Be sure to sign up for the ones you'd like to take as soon as you arrive. Guided tours include:
Electrical and Computer Engineering Laboratories
Autonomous Ocean Systems Laboratory - you'll get a close up look at real ocean gliders!
Simulator - go inside an ocean simulator that will move as though they are on the ocean!
Wave/Towing Tank - catch a ride that will take you over our 58-metre towing tank!
Structures lab - see concrete breaking or 2x4s!
Machine Shop/Stirling Engine
Rapid Prototyping/Materials Laboratory
Come visit us on Saturday, March 9 and find out what Memorial Engineering is all about!
