Wesley and Jeanne Drodge NL Research Partnership Award
The Wesley and Jeanne Drodge NL Research Partnership Awardis presented to a graduate student utilizing materials from archival agencies, museums and/or libraries located in Newfoundland and Labrador, in order to complete their program.
This award is meant to encourage residents of Newfoundland and Labrador to explore their heritage, develop a greater understanding of and a capacity to promote their province and its place in Canadian history. This award will be granted by the Associate Vice President (Academic) and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences who is utilizing materials from local Newfoundland and Labrador archival agencies, museums and/or libraries to complete their program.
Preference will be given to a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador who demonstrates aspiration to pursue a career in the field of Newfoundland and Labrador heritage. The recipient must meet the minimum academic requirements for an award as defined by the University.

Applications must include:
- A one-page cover letter outlining suitability for the award in relation to the award criteria
- A resume that includes any relevant information to studies/pursuit of Newfoundland and Labrador heritage
- An up-to-date transcript.

- A letter of recommendation discussing the quality and impact of your work (whether academic or community involvement). This supporting letter should articulate the relationship of the referee to the applicant (e.g., instructor, supervisor, volunteer supervisor, etc.). The letter of recommendation is due by the application deadline and must be submitted to hss[at]mun[dot]ca.

For 2023, the value of the award will be $1,086.00.

Backstory of the award
The Wesley and Jeanne Drodge NL Research Partnership Award was established by a generous donation from Wesley and Jeanne Drodge as a way to reunite residents of Newfoundland and Labrador with their province’s history. A graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and a former Health Care CEO, Mr. Drodge is well known across the province for his passion for health care and public policy. Mr. Drodge also has a passion for preserving the province’s rich culture and history, as well as the utilization of unique primary sources. The purpose of this award is to encourage residents of Newfoundland and Labrador to explore their heritage, develop a greater understanding of and a capacity to promote it, as well as promote the province’s place in Canadian history. This award will be granted by the Associate Vice President (Academic) and Dean of the School of Graduate Studies on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
