Funding for Graduate Students
Funding is available for academically eligible full-time Canadian and international graduate students in eligible programs. The amounts vary from department to department; please talk to the Graduate Officer in your department of choice for details about the funding norms in that department.
In general, graduate student funding packages are pulled together from several sources, including School of Graduate Studies (‘baseline’) funding; SSHRC, NSERC, and other grants to faculty members; contracts (i.e., funding provided to graduate students in the form of agreements between faculty supervisors and funding sponsors); graduate assistantships (GA-ships) from the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences’ office; and SSHRC, NSERC, and other grants to graduate students (such as the Canada Graduate Scholarship — Master’s). The School of Graduate Studies website lists many other scholarships and awards and special funding opportunities available to graduate students at Memorial.
