Janet Harron

Jenny Higgins, a writer and researcher at the Maritime History Archive, received the Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for Historical Writing for Perished: The 1914 Newfoundland Sealing Disaster (published by Bouler Publications) at the May 14 award ceremony for the Atlantic Book Awards in Halifax.

Arts alumnus Megan Gail Coles, received the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award, for her collection of stories Eating Habits of the Chronically Lonesome (Creative Book Publishing).
