Dr. Zhang obtained her B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees in chemical engineering from Tianjin University and her PhD degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering from National University of Singapore. She joined Memorial University as an assistant professor in 2010.
Her research involves the application of experimental and computational methods to the analysis of complicated chemical reaction and separation processes. Her research interests include the development of novel biopolymer-based functional materials, modeling simulation and optimization of integrated separation and reaction process, and preparative liquid chromatography for isolation and purification of therapeutic proteins.
At Memorial University, Dr. Zhang teaches undergraduate courses in mass transfer, process equipment design II and petroleum refining engineering, and graduate courses in compact process equipment design and advanced separation processes.
