Personal Profile

I received my Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Trieste in 2007. In my Master’s thesis (2010), I developed a new design method to simulate the air-borne noise pollution from ships. Later, I worked at the Ship Noise and Vibration Laboratory at the University of Trieste as a research assistant. Over this period, I focused my research interests on the dynamic characterization of damping materials for marine applications, new design solutions for the improvement of on-board comfort in relation to noise and vibration, the dynamic characterization of resilient mounts for marine machinery, and dynamic simulations of ship structures. I developed my PhD thesis (2015) at the University of Trieste as well as at ICAM in Nantes, France. In this research activity, I developed a new design method for the simulation of the structure-borne noise generated by marine diesel engines that are resiliently mounted.

I serve as a technical member of the Design Methods Committee of the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress (ISSC 2018). I am also a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration.


I received ISSC 2015 Award for the excellent contribution to the report presented by the IV.2 Technical Committee on Design Methods at the 19th International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress.
