Personal Profile

Dr. Cynthia Coles is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland, in St. John's, Canada. She teaches courses in environmental engineering, water resources and renewable energy.

Dr. Coles received her bachelor of engineering (B.Eng.) in civil engineering from McGill University (Montreal), and subsequently supervised construction in Sierra Leone, West Africa on Degrémont scheme water supply projects, a C.A.R.E. Feeder Road's project and other building projects. She then obtained a master of engineering (M.Eng.) in water resources from McGill University and a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) in geo-environmental engineering from McGill University.
