Understanding Change

On Nov. 28, Memorial professor Robert Sweeny will be awarded the Governor General’s History Award for Scholarly Research at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.  To mark the occasion, leading researchers from across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences will critically assess the relevance for their own discipline of the new historical approach at the heart of Sweeny’s prize-winning book.  Participants include: Barb Neis, University Research Professor in sociology, (chair), Katherine Side, associate professor of gender studies, Roger White, University Research Professor in geography, Tony Chadwick, retired professor of French; Suma Rajiva, associate professor in philosophy; and Steve Crocker, associate professor in sociology.
