Department of Computer Science
Friday, December 14, 2012, 1:00 p.m., Room EN 2022

Re-finding Web browsing histories is an important activity to acquire information and knowledgein our daily work. Re-finding previously viewed Web pages is a difficult task, as people's memoryof the visited pages is often fragmented and vague. Users cannot ensure the accuracy of theirrecollections, which will lead to ineffective revisitation. The purpose of my project is to offer anovel visualizing approach to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of re-finding process. As thegraphical representation is more helpful than text to boost the cognitive capabilities of the mind, Iwill combine three types of graphical representations to visualize the browsing history meta-data,including timeline, bubble chart and tag cloud. The browsing histories are filtered and extracted bythe interaction of these visualized representations. With the assistance of the visualized cues, userscan more effectively re-find the page they are searching.
