Upon review of each tool in this index, metadata has been collected and presented in a consistent format. Additionally, some tools have been rated against our Rubric for Learning Technology Evaluation(available here), which should help with selecting the best tool to help achieve your learning outcomes

They also provide instructors with an opportunity to help students to learn effectively from the feedback process. |
H5P | Object Creation | H5P is a web application for creating your own interactive learning objects. It allows instructors to create interactive content such as quizzes, presentations, charts, and videos which can be embedded into Brightspace. |
Lecture Capture | Video Hosting | Lecture Capture is a service provided by CITL that allows for a recording of live lectures for later review by students. |
CITL Video Uploader | Video Hosting | CITL's video uploader allows instructors to upload their created videos and stream them to students through Brightspace. The video uploader provides instructors with the opportunity to share "desk lectures" or other short tutorial videos with students. The service ingests your created media, transcodes it for delivery to students, and provides an embed code that allows you to place the video within your Brightspace course. Each instructor receives 30 GB of storage for their videos. |

Qualtrics* | Survey Tool | Qualtrics is an industry-leading survey software solution that is currently used by 6800 schools and 2000 universities worldwide, including several Canadian institutions. Jamboard* No longer available in 2025 | Synchronous Sessions | The Jamboard application will go into view-only mode on October 1, 2024. You’ll no longer be able to create new or edit existing Jams on any platform, including the web, iOS, and Android platforms. During this time you can continue to back up your Jam files. What you need to know September 1, 2024 - Jamboard is removed from Google Meet on web and mobile platforms. October 1, 2024 Jamboard goes into view-only mode. Automatic PDF conversion begins. December 31, 2024 Last day to migrate your Jams to a supported partner application. After this day, we will begin the final shutdown process and Jams will be deleted. |

Mastodon* | Synchronous Sessions | Mastodon is a free, decentralized, open-source, and self-hosted social networking service. Asana* | Synchronous Sessions | Asana is a web and mobile platform for work management, aiding teams in organizing, tracking, and managing their tasks and projects. Asana offers features such as project creation, task assignment, deadline setting, communication tools, reporting, file attachments, calendars, and goal tracking. It has received positive reviews for its user-friendly design and productivity-enhancing capabilities. Asana also provides an open API for third-party integrations and has expanded its offerings with features like Asana Partners for cross-platform integration and capabilities focused on generative artificial intelligence. |
Yellowdig* | Asynchronous Communication | Yellowdig is a community platform similar to X Communities, where students can discuss and share their opinions, including files, in the class community. They can interact with other posts, using emojis, accolades, and comments. Instructors can set their expectations, and the platform will automatically grade students based on these criteria by the end of the semester. It can be integrated into Brightspace, and the grades will be automatically sent to the assigned grade book. |
