Travel Health Insurance
Effective April 1, 2026, Emergency Medical Travel Insurance for Memorial employees and retirees will transition from Beneva (formerly SSQ) to Medavie Blue Cross. Medavie Blue Cross will mail new benefits cards for health, dental, and travel to Memorial employees and retirees in advance of the transition date. To ensure you receive your new benefits card, please check and update, if necessary, the home address you have on file with Human Resources by Tuesday, February 10. To check and update your address on file, please follow the Instructions to update your address within Employee Self-Service.
The coverage provided by Medavie Blue Cross will mirror the current Travel benefit offered by Beneva, ensuring no loss in benefits for employees and retirees.
For individuals travelling across the April 1 transition date (i.e., departing prior to April 1 but returning after April 1), there will be no gap in coverage:
- Claims incurred on or before March 31, 2026 will be adjudicated by Beneva.
- Claims incurred on or after April 1, 2026 will be adjudicated by Medavie Blue Cross.
What This Means for You
- Your travel coverage will remain uninterrupted during the transition.
- Continue to use your current Beneva card until March 31, 2026. After April 1, use your new Medavie Blue Cross card.
- Watch for further details and your new benefits card in early 2026.
Further details, including instructions and FAQs, will be shared in advance of the transition date.
