Pharmacy Appreciation Month
The celebration of all things pharmacy in Canada, formerly known as Pharmacists’ Awareness Month, has a new name for 2021 – Pharmacy Appreciation Month.
It’s a timely name change - one that has everything to do with the pharmacy community’s response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and how they’ve become a life-line for many Canadians trying to stay healthy and safe in an extraordinary year.
Every March School of Pharmacy students organize daily events and activities to highlight, and celebrate the pharmacy community, and raise awareness about all that pharmacists do to support the health and well-being of their patients.
"I believe it is important to raise awareness about the role of pharmacists each year and all the services they can provide to patients," says Caitlyn Coles, chair of MUN Pharmacy Appreciation Month. "This year, I believe it is more important than ever to show our appreciation for pharmacy staff as they have continued to go to work each and every day throughout the pandemic as front-line workers."
In her second year of the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, Ms. Coles points out that pharmacists have worked tirelessly to provide exceptional care to their patients.
"I hope that people will have a chance to show their appreciation to pharmacy staff this month, and learn about all that pharmacists are able to do," she says. "On behalf of the MUN PAM 2021 Committee, I invite you to participate in our month of events."
