Healthy Workplace

A healthy workplace supports and promotes the overall health, safety and well-being of employees. This starts with ensuring a respectful workplace where individuals or groups of individuals are free from harassment and discrimination.

A heathy workplace is also one where employees are safe from injury or incident. At Memorial, a safe work environment is the focus of the ergonomics program that looks at the interaction between work and the various components of the work environment to help employees prevent and/or reduce musculoskeletal injuries.

Active living and a positive work/life balance are another key component to a healthy workplace. This is promoted at Memorial through a variety of wellness programs, events and online resources. In addition, a comprehensive, confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to Memorial employees, retirees and their immediate family members (provided they are also covered under the university's health plan) at no cost, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Employees can also quickly and easily report incidents or concerns on campus through the university’s eAlert sytem, and the MUN Safe app provides access to campus resources 24/7 such as emergency push notifications, emergency procedures, incident reporting and more.
