Learning and Development is pleased to announce that 25 employees from the St. John’s and Grenfell campuses recently graduated from the Supervisory Skills Development Program (SSDP). With the intake of these individuals into the program this past fall, SSDP celebrated 10 successful years as a Memorial program offering.

“We are very proud of this group of participants, as well as the overall success of the program,” said Heather Stamp Nunes, manager of Learning and Development with the Department of Human Resources. “SSDP has helped build and strengthen the Memorial University community by providing employees with an opportunity to develop relationships across units while providing training in many important areas.”

SSDP was developed to meet the learning needs of Memorial’s supervisory personnel. Throughout the course of the program, participants engaged in a series of learning sessions that included: leadership, communications, customer service, workplace conflict, managing priorities, and mental health and diversity awareness, to name a few.

The closing ceremony for the 2014-2015 SSDP participants took place on June 2, 2015 at the Ocean Science Centre (OSC). During the ceremony, participants were presented certificates of completion.

Since 2005, there have been 372 SSDP program graduates from the St. John’s, Grenfell and Marine Institute campuses combined.
