INTERMEDIATE SECRETARY (BAND LEVEL 4)

Discipline of Laboratory Medicine

Faculty of Medicine

(Full-time, One-year Contractual)

This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

 

DUTIES

The successful applicant will perform advanced secretarial duties which require a significant degree of initiative and judgement in support of the Chair of The Discipline of Laboratory Medicine. Duties include providing administrative support to the Chair of the Discipline; opening and screening all incoming mail; replying to inquiries via email, telephone or in-person; managing the Chair's calendar, arranging meetings including compiling background information; taking and transcribing minutes of meetings; preparing correspondence of a confidential nature including letters and reports from rough draft, oral dictation or Dictaphone; proofreading documents; typing, posting and emailing rounds; arranging travel and completing appropriate documentation for faculty and residents; ordering office equipment; recording expenditures; maintaining a filing system; attending occasional meetings after hours; and performing other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) in academic program activities in a university environment as well as secretarial work; graduation from high school supplemented by courses in business administration or related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills as well as medical terminology are required. Knowledge of the ONE45 and Desire2Learn (D2L) software system and experience working in a medical environment would be considered assets.

 

SALARY:                                             $50, 294 $58,998 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
