General Admission Requirements

Required Subject Areas

  1. English
  2. Mathematics*
  3. Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
  4. Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
  5. Elective

*Students who are missing an eligible course in subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.

Competitive program entry (if applicable)
  • Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

 

Supporting Documents Required

If you are currently in high school

When you apply (early decision)
  • Current, interim high school transcript. This transcript can be official or unofficial.
  • Official English proficiency test results sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
    • If you are applying for admission to nursing or fine arts, you should e-mail an unofficial copy of your transcript, showing mid-year grade/progress report (issued by your school in January/February) no later than March 1.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
  • Official final examination results. These should sent to the Office of the Registrar by post or courier directly from the Ministry of Education National Organization for Examinations or sent by you in an envelope that has been officially sealed by the Ministry of Education National Organization for Examinations.

 

If you have completed high school and not attended a post-secondary institution

  • Official final examination results. These should sent to the Office of the Registrar by post or courier directly from the Ministry of Education National Organization for Examinations or sent by you in an envelope that has been officially sealed by the Ministry of Education National Organization for Examinations.
  • Official English proficiency result sent directly from the testing authority.
  • Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
