Injections Training: Oct. 4

The School of Pharmacy will be offering an injection training program on Wednesday, October 4th. This session will be a combined group of both students and pharmacists. The program is designed such that participants will feel confident in their knowledge and skills regarding immunization, and intramuscular and subcutaneous injection of medications/vaccines.  Part 2 may be taken alone as a refresher for those who were previously certified. 

Part 1 – Online Modules

  •  Must complete online modules prior to the hands-on training.
    • CCCEP accredited for 22 CEUs.
    • Consists of 14 core modules covering the Public Health Agency of Canada’s Immunization Competencies for Health Professionals plus a 15th module for pharmacists “Essential Competencies for Injection of Other Substances (AB, NB, NL, NS and ON)”. 
    • As the modules are comprehensive, they require significant time to complete and should be started as soon as possible. 
    • Cost $200 + tax (paid online)

Part 2 – Hands on Training at the School of Pharmacy

  •  Date: October 4, 2017
  • Time: 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • Location:  Professional Practice Lab, School of Pharmacy, St. John’s
  • Certification involves administering one intramuscular injection and one subcutaneous injection into another participant.
  • CCCEP accredited for 7.5 CEUs.
  • Cost $405 (injection kit included) payable by cheque or money order to MUN School of Pharmacy.
