Injections training: June 7

The School of Pharmacy will be offering a live training program on Friday, June 7. The program is designed such that pharmacists will feel confident in their knowledge and skills regarding immunization, and intramuscular (deltoid) and subcutaneous injection of medications/vaccines. Part 2 may be taken alone as a refresher for those who were previously certified. Part 2 may be taken alone as a refresher for those who were previously certified.

Part 1 – Online Modules

Participants must complete online modules from Dalhousie Continuing Pharmacy Education (Dal CPE) prior to the hands-on training. This online program is comprised of 16 modules, and will take approximately eight to twelve hours to complete. Pharmacists must achieve at least 70% on the post-study online test prior to completing the live training.

• CCCEP accredited for 7 CEUs.
• Cost $150 + tax (paid to Dal CPE by cheque or credit card).

Part 2 – Hands on Training

• Date: June 7, 2019
• Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Location: Professional Practice Lab, School of Pharmacy, St. John’s.
• Certification involves administering one intramuscular (deltoid) injection and one subcutaneous injection into another participant.
• CCCEP accredited for 7.5 CEUs.
• Cost $325 (injection kit included) payable by cheque or money order to MUN School of Pharmacy.

IMPORTANT: Completion of this program DOES NOT give authorization to perform injections or immunizations in  practice.  This authority will be granted to individual members in good standing by the provincial licensing bodies (i.e. Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board).
