Memorial University is one of the largest universities in Atlantic Canada. As the province's only university, Memorial plays an integral role in the education and cultural life of Newfoundland and Labrador, offering diverse undergraduate and graduate programs to almost 18,000 students. The Student Design Hub (SDH) is a student resource initiative that aims to support undergraduate or graduate students competing in a student-centered competition or hoping to develop a product prototype. By providing programming, access to resources, guidance and a means for students to connect over their passion for creation, the SDH aims to inspire students to bring their design and artistic projects to life. 

 

DUTIES 

The Innovation Manager will play a critical role in supporting the Student Design Hub's mission to promote innovation and entrepreneurship programming. Reporting to the Director, Student Design Hub (SDH), this position will lead entrepreneurship programming, with a focus on helping students identify and understand problems that need solving. Responsibilities include developing and managing the SDH Mentorship Program; recruiting industry and alumni mentors and serving as the key operational liaison to the Memorial Centre for Entrepreneurship (MCE) and other incubators within Newfoundland and Labrador; developing and managing industry partnerships; playing a critical role in executing the SDH's Expansion and Entrepreneurship Alignment Strategy; mentoring student teams through an entrepreneurial lens; contributing to major SDH events (Nexus, Ignite, Spotlight) with a focus on industry, media engagement, and leveraging modern software and Al tools; coordinating workshops and training sessions; managing program funding and budgets; supporting strategic planning; and performing other duties as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Experience (3-5 years) in program management or a business-oriented role; completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Technology, or Entrepreneurship, or a related field is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational and communication skills; have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast-paced environment; and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial-minded, highly motivated individual with a passion for making a difference.

 

SALARY                 $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
