Personal Profile

My home town is Northern Bay, which is on the north shore of Conception Bay Newfoundland, about midway between Carbonear and Bay de Verde. I received an engineering diploma from MUN in 1970 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1972. I received a Masters of Applied Science in 1974 and a PhD in 1979 from the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. My graduate work was on hovercraft technology. I was a Research Associate at UTIAS from 1980 to 1982. I joined the Mechanical Engineering Discipline at MUN in 1982. I was the Mechanical Discipline Chair at MUN from 1994 to 1996 and in 2000. I teach courses mainly in the controls and fluids areas. My scholarly interests lie mainly in the mechanical design area.
