2019 Income Tax Workshops (for tax year 2018)

Any international student requiring assistance with their income tax return may come to a tax workshop to be held at a computer lab. This is a hands on session were you will work to complete your tax return with the assistance of volunteers. Registration is not required. Students must ensure they have the relative documents ready prior to filing their taxes at the workshop. Students should also create an account with UFILE (tax software) prior to coming to a workshop to save time.

Please note: Any student arriving in Canada on January 1, 2019 or later does not need to file a tax return until 2020.

*Our income tax workshops for international students normally take place at the Computing Services building or "CS" which located between the Science Building and the Bruneau Centre.

Appointments

You may also schedule a one-on-one appointment with our International Student Advisor, Satria Kusuma, to inquire or/and support you with your tax return(s). To book an appointment, please follow the steps below:

Go to my.mun.ca and log in

  1. Click "Student" or "Alumni" link near the top of the page.
  2. Click "My MUNLife" in the "Student Services" or "My MUNLife" box.
  3. Click on "Internationalization Office" & then click “Book an Appointment with the Internationalization Office”.
  4. You can book an appointment by type "Tax Advice", and then select a date and time.

2019 Tax Information Sessions

Would you like some general information about the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Canadian tax system? If so come to one of CRA's information sessions.

Volunteer Training Sessions

If you are interested in volunteering for the tax workshops this year please send an email to international@mun.ca stating why you wish to volunteer with the tax program. Please keep in mind if you sign up to volunteer you will have to attend at least one training session and one information session in the month of March. Interested volunteers must show up to one of the two training sessions

  • Training dates will be sent to volunteers via email

In addition volunteers are expected to volunteer in at least 3 out of the 9 workshops April. Please see the Tax Program Schedule below for more information.
