Celebrating Cultural Diversity: MUN International Students & Families Canada Day Gathering – June 29 

We are thrilled to share highlights from our recent vibrant celebration that brought together students and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds to honour the spirit of unity and inclusion that defines our community. 

The event was a remarkable success, bringing together international students and their families to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community through traditional dress, food, storytelling, a photo exhibition, weaving, and children's creative activities. More than a cultural celebration, each activity was purposefully designed with clear educational and social objectives to promote intercultural learning, strengthen community connections, and enhance participants' sense of identity, belonging, and inclusion in Newfoundland and Labrador. The event created meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange while encouraging participants to reflect on their experiences of identity, migration, and belonging, fostering a stronger sense of community and mutual understanding. 

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Newfoundland and Labrador Multiculturalism Grant Program (NLMGP), administered by the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM), Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, for their generous funding and continued support, which made this event possible. Their commitment to fostering multicultural inclusion and community engagement is deeply appreciated.
