Current Students & Alumni

Welcome to the Internationalization Office! Our team of advisors are here to help you as an international student, whether you need information, or just a friendly chat. We can talk to you about health insurance, academic and career options and how to get settled here in the city of St. John's.

One way to learn about life in a new country is to get involved on campus or in the community. Here are ways to get involved:

Join our Coffee Club

Coffee Club is held every Friday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (ends at 4:30pm in the Summer). The purpose of Coffee Club is to relax after a busy week and connect with friends. Coffee Club is very informal and is open to the campus community, including spouses and alumni.
One of the best ways to battle homesickness and adjust to life on campus is to socialize. At Coffee Club there is always interesting conversation, lots of laughter and refreshments. You will have the opportunity to learn about Newfoundland and hear fascinating stories from other international students. If you have questions, want to suggest an activity or volunteer with Coffee Club please contact Juanita Hennessey.

Join our Discussion Group

Discussion Group is held every Wednesday from 4pm - 5pm. In the summer we meet earlier, from 3:30-4:30 pm.  Discussion Group is informal and open to the campus community, including spouses and alumni. If you are interested in meeting new people, sharing your experiences or just relaxing with a cup of coffee and listening to the conversation you are welcome to attend.

Each week a new topic is selected but there is no guarantee we stick to it, we just like to see where the conversation will go! If you have questions or would like to suggest a topic for Discussion Group please email Juanita Hennessey.

Volunteering on or off campus:

The IO looks for volunteers at various times throughout the year to help with events and programming. For more information please contact us at international@mun.ca

Student Volunteer Bureau:  The SVB is a referral centre for Memorial students interested in getting involved with volunteer work. The office is staffed by trained students to assist individuals in finding volunteer placements both on-campus and in the community. If you would like to get more information about volunteering on or off campus, just check out their website to get involved!

The SVB is located in the University Centre - UC-3011 and can be reached by email: svb@mun.ca
