Safe and Sustainable Development of the Ocean Frontier (SSDOF), a Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) research program, is a world-leading, transnational, integrated program of research dedicated to providing society with the knowledge and innovations required to achieve the Safe and Sustainable Development of the Ocean Frontier through two linked themes:

1. “Ocean Frontier Changes”: addressing the ocean’s changing ability to support growing human use; and
2. “Ocean Frontier Solutions”: exploring safe and sustainable adaptations and solutions for growing human use.
