ACENET

ACENET is a partnership of post-secondary institutions throughout Atlantic Canada. It provides advanced research computing resources (i.e. computing beyond the capabilities of a desktop), expertise, training and support. Through ACENET, researchers in Atlantic Canada are able to access high performance and big data computing resources, supported cloud environments, leading edge GPU systems, high-speed secure file transfer for terabytes of data, and stable, secure, storage and backup systems.

ACENET helps local researchers use advanced computing to accelerate discovery and innovation in Atlantic Canada, attract and retain Highly Qualified People in the region, and provide students with foundational skills in the high-demand field of advanced computing.

Its experts can help researchers determine their computing requirements, optimize and troubleshoot code, provide in-depth collaboration, and install, operate and maintain advanced computing equipment. Ongoing training and support is provided from novice to advanced, in groups and individually, and from general to more specialized topics. A priority queue can also be provided for early classroom experience.

ACENET is a regional partner with Compute Canada, the national organization responsible for advanced research computing in Canada. Through Compute Canada, ACENET provides access to computing resources from across the country in addition to its own, and represents our regional needs at the national table.

Technical and research support staff for ACENET are located in HH-2036 of Memorial's Henrietta Harvey building. Simply email support@ace-net.ca for assistance or visit the website.

Memorial University is a founding member of ACENET, which is funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), the provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and several of its member post-secondary institutions, including Memorial University.

ACENET resources and services are free of charge to post-secondary institutional researchers.
