Policy, Practice and Possibility: Inclusive Post-Secondary Pathways for Care-Experienced Youth
Memorial's Faculty of Education Doctoral Seminar Series Presents, Policy, Practice, and Possibility: Inclusive Post-Secondary Pathways for Care-Experienced Youth.
This presentation explores how tuition waiver programs and holistic supports can expand post-secondary opportunities for care-experienced youth.
Drawing on a multi-phase SSHRC-funded project, it shares findings from an international scoping review and interviews with students and practitioners.
The research highlights ongoing financial and social barriers, the need for wraparound supports and mentorship, and the value of culturally responsive services. It underscores inclusive, equity-driven approaches to ensure care-experienced youth can access, persist, and thrive in post-secondary education.
Moderated by Dr. Dale Kirby, PhD:
Dale Kirby is a full professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
