Invitation to patent rights information session on March 18

Students, faculty and staff are invited to a session aimed at strengthening their intellectual property strategy to set their research up for success.

Before you disclose … protecting your patent rights the smart way takes place on Wednesday, March 18 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., in the Social Changemaker Space, Business Administration Building, room BN-4015.

The session features Kushal Shah, associate lawyer and patent agent at Gowling WLG. Mr. Shah will walk through common patent pitfalls – including early public disclosure, thin specifications and inventorship challenges under Canadian law – and share strategies that support successful commercialization pathways for university spinouts. Lunch will be provided but registration is required.

Register here.

This session is a partnership with Gowling WLG, Springboard Atlantic and Memorial University’s Research Innovation Office.

The Research Innovation Office is supported in part by the Government of Canada’s Research Support Fund, an important source of funding support that helps post-secondary institutions with costs associated with managing their research enterprises.

Location: Social Changemaker Space, Business Administration Building, room BN-4015, St. John's campus

Date and Time: Wednesday, Mar. 18 at 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM (NDT)
