New Technology Solution for HR Assistance Requests

Apr 7th, 2025

The Department of Human Resources has partnered with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to develop a technology solution to improve client service and create efficiencies.

As of April 14, 2025, the Department of Human Resources is switching to a customized OnBase solution for the submission of requests for Human Resources assistance.

To facilitate the switchover, no new cases will be created on Friday, April 11. On this day, Human Resources representatives will be available to assist members of the university community via Live Chat, phone and at the MyHR service counter on the 4th floor of the Arts and Administration Building.

Individual Requests

The OnBase solution will provide an enhanced way to interact with the department. Instead of emailing myhr@mun.ca, individuals can log directly into the my.mun.ca portal and access the HR Case Management channel (this channel will be live on Monday, April 14). Additional information will be available within the channel and instructions on how to submit a request are also posted on the Human Resources website here.

In addition to this online access, members of the Memorial community can use our Live Chat feature during business hours, call 709-864-2434, email myhr@mun.ca or drop by the MyHR service counter for assistance.

Department Administrator Requests

Department administrators submitting on behalf of their units will be able to do so in OnBase. Additional information for administrators is available under the Administrator tab, OnBase menu option of the Human Resources website here.

Training sessions for administrators have also been organized. Administrators interested in attending training can book a session by emailing recruitment@mun.ca.

Long-Term Solution

Emily Wooley, interim associate vice-president (people and culture), said OnBase will provide a long-term, in-house solution for the department’s needs.

“The department, in partnership with the OCIO, began exploring options last summer that would address the university’s needs as we move forward. Using OnBase was a logical choice as many people throughout the university are already familiar with it and the system has proven to be a reliable and adaptable tool. I would like to thank the OCIO for their partnership on this initiative which is enabling us to modernize our technology tools and provide a more efficient service to the university.”

OnBase is already used by Human Resources for personnel files and records, as well as for staff extensions and the processing of academic appointments and extensions. OnBase is also currently used by most university administrators for various aspects of their work.
