2020 Tax Slips

All current Memorial employees, and pensioners who signed up to receive their tax information electronically, can now access their 2020 tax slips online in the employee section of my.mun.ca. Some individuals may have multiple tax slips and will need to download them individually.

Slips look a little different this year

Employees are reminded that there were 27 paydays in 2020 instead of 26. As a result, the earnings reported on your T4 might be higher than you would expect in a typical year.

A second difference in tax slips this year relates to a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirement. For 2020, the CRA requires employers to break out earnings paid to employees in each of the four Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) benefit periods. These earnings are reported in the “Other Information” boxes at the bottom of your T4 as follows:

  • Box 57: March 15 to May 9 (pay periods 7 to 10)
  • Box 58: May 10 to July 4 (pay periods 11 to 14)
  • Box 59: July 5 to Aug. 29 (pay periods 15 to 18)
  • Box 60: Aug. 30 to Sept. 26 (pay periods 19 to 20)

Please note that the earnings reported in these boxes are included in the amount shown in Box 14, “Employment Income.” You do not need to add these earnings to your Box 14 amount when you complete your income tax return. CRA intends to use this information to validate benefits paid to individuals under the Canada Emergency Response Benefit and the Canada Emergency Student Benefit.
